Get Found By People Already Looking

Search engine optimization for local businesses in North Florida. We explain exactly how it works, from the technical fixes to backlinks to the software that tracks it, so you know what you are paying for before you spend a dollar.

What SEO Actually Is

SEO is the work of showing up when someone searches for what you do, without paying for each click. For a local business there are three places that can happen.

The map results

The three businesses Google shows with a map when someone searches "near me" or names a town. For a local business this is usually the most valuable spot on the page, and it is driven by your Google Business Profile, your reviews and how close you are.

The regular results

The list of websites under the map and the ads. Showing up here depends on your site: whether Google can read it, whether each page answers a specific search, and whether other sites vouch for you with links.

AI answers

More people now ask an AI tool or read Google's AI summary instead of clicking through. Those answers are built from pages that state facts plainly: what you do, where, for how much. Clear, well-structured content is how you get included.

How SEO Works: The Eight Parts

There is no single trick. Ranking well comes from eight things done properly and kept up. Skip one and the others work harder for less.

01

Technical foundation

Before anything else, Google has to be able to crawl and read your site. That means it loads fast on a phone, every page can be reached, nothing important is blocked, and the site is secure. Problems here quietly hold back everything else you do.

02

On-page SEO

Each page should target one thing a customer searches for and say so clearly: in the page title, the headings, the text and the description Google shows under your link. One strong page per service, and per town if you serve several, beats one page that lists everything.

03

Google Business Profile

For local search this carries as much weight as your website. The right categories, accurate hours, a full service list, real photos, regular posts and answered questions all tell Google you are active and relevant for searches near you.

04

Citations and listings

A citation is your business name, address and phone number on another site: Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing, Facebook, industry directories. When they all match, Google trusts that you are where you say you are. When they disagree, it hesitates.

05

Backlinks

A backlink is another website linking to yours, and Google treats it like a reference. One link from the local chamber, a news story or a supplier you are certified with says more than hundreds from sites nobody visits. They are earned, not bought.

06

Content

Pages and articles that answer the questions your customers actually type: what does it cost, how long does it take, do you serve my area. Useful content gives Google more ways to find you and gives other sites a reason to link to you.

07

Reviews

The number of reviews, how recent they are, and whether you reply all feed into where you show on the map. They also decide whether someone who finds you actually calls.

08

Tracking and reporting

None of this is worth paying for if you cannot see it working. We track your rankings, your traffic, and the calls and forms that come from search, and report them every month in plain English.

What The Work Looks Like

Three views of an SEO engagement. The business, keywords and numbers are invented to show how it is tracked. They are not a promise of rankings.

Site auditExample data
0 open0 fixed
  • !Page titles missing on 6 pages
  • !Home page takes too long to load on a phone
  • !Phone number differs between site and Google
  • !No page for your main service
  • !Images with no descriptions
  • !Two pages competing for the same search
An audit crawls your site the way Google does and lists what is holding it back. Then the list gets worked, most important first.

A backlink is another website linking to yours. A handful from real local organizations beat thousands from sites nobody has heard of.

The Software It Takes To Maintain SEO

SEO runs on data, and the data comes from tools. Some are free. The professional ones are paid subscriptions, which is part of why doing this properly yourself costs more than it first appears.

Google Search Console

Free from Google

Shows which searches you appear for, which pages Google has indexed, and any errors it found. Nothing else gives you this straight from Google.

Google Analytics

Free from Google

Shows how many people came from search, what they looked at, and whether they called or filled in a form.

Google Business Profile

Free from Google

The profile itself, plus its own numbers on views, calls and direction requests.

A rank tracker

Paid, monthly

Checks where you show up for your target searches, from your customers' locations, every week. Searching for yourself does not give a true answer.

A site crawler

Paid

Scans every page the way Google does and flags broken links, slow pages, missing titles and duplicate content.

Keyword and backlink research

Paid, monthly

Shows what people search for and how often, what your competitors rank for, and who links to them and to you.

Citation management

Paid

Finds every place your business is listed, spots the ones that are wrong, and pushes corrections out.

Included in your plan

You do not buy any of this. The paid tools are ours, and their cost is part of the monthly fee. The free Google tools are set up in your name, so the data and the history are yours and stay with you if you ever move on.

What Happens, Month By Month

SEO takes months, not weeks. Here is the work in the order it happens, so the first six months are not a mystery.

  1. Month 1

    Find and fix

Full audit, tracking set up, Google Business Profile corrected, the worst technical problems fixed, target searches agreed with you.

  2. Months 2 and 3

    Build the pages

Service and location pages written or rewritten, listings corrected across the web, first links requested, a review routine started.

  3. Months 4 to 6

    Earn and adjust

New content every month, link outreach continues, pages adjusted based on what the tracking shows. This is usually when movement becomes visible.

  4. After that

    Keep it

Rankings are not permanent. Competitors keep working and Google keeps changing. Ongoing work protects what you have earned and goes after the next set of searches.

Start With the Audit, Then Decide

The audit tells you what is wrong and what it would take to fix. You can run with it yourself or have us do the work.

Why six months

SEO is slower than ads. Google takes time to notice changes and longer to trust them. Local SEO starts with a six-month term so there is enough time to see it work. More than one location is quoted, since each needs its own profile and pages, and so is a larger link campaign for a very competitive market.

Beyond Local: National And Global SEO

Not every business sells to the next town over. If your customers are across the country or around the world, the work changes, and so does the plan.

Local

You win with your Google Business Profile, reviews, accurate listings and pages for each service and town. Google already wants to show nearby businesses, so a well-kept profile does a lot of the work.

National

There is no map to help you. You are competing with every business in the country for the same searches, so it takes deeper content, a technically sound site, and links from sites that carry weight in your industry.

Global

Every country is its own market. Pages have to be marked for the right country and language so the correct version shows, content has to read naturally to local customers, and in some countries Google is not the main search engine.

Selling across the country

National SEO

6-month start, 12 recommended

For a business that ships, serves or sells nationwide. There is no map listing to lean on, so it comes down to the strength of your site, your content and who links to you.

  • Strategy and full audit before the monthly work starts
  • Keyword research at national level
  • Content built to rank: guides, comparisons, product and service pages
  • Link outreach and digital PR
  • Technical SEO for larger sites and online stores
  • National rank tracking and a monthly report

More than one country or language

Global SEO

6-month start, 12 recommended

For a business reaching customers in other countries. Each market searches differently, in its own language, sometimes on its own search engine.

  • Everything in National SEO
  • Country and language targeting set up correctly
  • A site structure for each market
  • Content localized, not just translated
  • Search engines beyond Google where they matter
  • Reporting broken out by market

The questions we get

How much does local SEO cost for a small business?add

Our local SEO starts at $1,100 a month for one location, with a six-month start. A one-time SEO audit starts at $900, and a blog package of four posts a month starts at $1,400. Additional locations are quoted, because each needs its own profile and pages.

What are backlinks, and do I need them?add

A backlink is a link from another website to yours. Google treats good ones as references, so they help you rank. A local business needs a modest number from real, relevant sources such as a chamber of commerce, suppliers, sponsors and local news. Bought links break Google's rules and can get a site penalized.

What software is needed for SEO, and do I have to buy it?add

SEO uses free Google tools (Search Console, Analytics, Business Profile) plus paid tools for rank tracking, site crawling, keyword and backlink research, and citation management. With our local SEO plan you do not buy any of it. The paid tools are included in the monthly fee, and the Google accounts are set up in your name.

What is the difference between local, national and global SEO?add

Local SEO helps you show up for searches near you, largely through your Google Business Profile and the map results. National SEO competes across a whole country with no map to lean on, so it depends on content and links. Global SEO adds country and language targeting so the right version of your site shows in each market.

How much does national or international SEO cost?add

It is quoted, because it depends on how competitive your market is, how much content it takes, and how many countries or languages are involved. It costs more than local SEO, since there is no map listing doing part of the work. Tell us what you sell and where, and we will send a fixed monthly price.

How long does SEO take to work?add

Plan on months, not weeks. Fixes to your Google Business Profile can show sooner, while rankings for competitive searches take longer because Google needs time to see and trust the changes. That is why local SEO starts with six months. Ads are the faster option if you need calls now.

What is the difference between SEO and Google Ads?add

Ads put you at the top right away and stop the moment you stop paying. SEO earns your place in the regular results and on the map, which takes longer and keeps working. Many local businesses run ads while SEO builds, then lean on ads less.

Do you guarantee first-page rankings?add

No. Nobody controls Google's results, and a guarantee is a warning sign. We commit to the work, show you what was done each month, and track your rankings so you can judge it on results, not promises.

Does SEO help me show up in AI answers?add

It helps. AI tools tend to draw on pages that answer a question directly, state facts such as prices and service areas clearly, and are consistent with your Google profile and listings. We write and structure content with that in mind, though no one can promise a mention.
